Sharing a deep message about being 'true' on New Year Day, the film producer reveals he took the tearful picture several months ago when he was 'in a moment of deep pain and peace.'

AceShowbiz - Devon Franklin has gone candid about his rough year after announcing his split from Meagan Good. In a reflective social media post to mark the beginning of 2022, the film producer showed his vulnerable side as he shared a crying selfie.

The motivational speaker took to his Instagram account on New Year's Day to share the throwback image of him shedding tears. In the caption, he revealed he took the picture when he was "in a moment of deep pain and peace."

"I took this picture a few months ago, I'm not much of a crier so in a moment of deep pain and peace, I took this picture. It captures best how I feel," he wrote. "I share this with you because it is the most honest way to start this year."

Urging his followers to be "true," the 43-year-old continued, "I know we are starting a new year yet I don't wish you a Happy New Year…I wish you a Happy True Year. Why? Because just because it's NEW doesn't make it TRUE."

He went on sharing, "So often I've come into a new year with all the things I hope to do better and I would carry around this feeling of 'I didn't do enough last year' or 'I'm not enough so I must do…more.' I'm breaking my addiction to the 'new' and working on being fully committed to what's 'true.' "

The "Heaven Is for Real" producer continued to preach, "My prayer for you is the same prayer I have for myself, To have the truest year of life. True peace. True happiness. True friends. True love. True work. True fun. True faith. True money. True joy. True purpose."

"In our truth is where we will really meet God and from that meeting He will guide us, correct us and help us become the truest versions of ourselves. I'm ready for that," he penned, before admitting, "I am fully in pain and peace as we start 2022 and that's the truest place for me to be."

Devon then announced that he would be taking a break from social media for a while. "As the great philosopher Wyclef :) said: 'I'll be gone til November'…meaning I'm taking a break from posting on social for awhile, maybe not until November but you get the point. Thank you for your prayers, I feel each of them and I'm praying you…here's to the true (whether old or new). Happy True Year!" he concluded his lengthy message.

Elsewhere on Meagan's Instagram page, she rang in the new year in a different fashion. The actress shared an uplifting message while also reflecting on the past year. "2021.. You brought me the highest life changing affirming highs.. And the lowest gut wrenching soulbreaking lows..," she wrote along with photos of herself in a stunning green dress.

"Although I'm grieving... I'm also in glorious awe and thankfulness to you God.....," she added. "They say all endings are also beginnings. 2022, I'm choosing to be excited about what the beginning of this next act of life brings. Lord I trust you."
