Back in December, the 'New Rules' singer and the model were reportedly 'spending time apart' after dating for two years as they're trying to figure things out.

AceShowbiz - Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid are meant to be despite splitting. According to a new report, friends of the former couple believe that they will be getting back together after breaking up last month.

"Dua and Anwar were together for a long time and so they still have mutual friends on both of their sides who think there's absolutely a chance they'll get back together," a source tells HollywoodLife.com. "They don't believe they're done for good."

The source continues noting that the "New Rules" hitmaker and the brother of Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid "had insane chemistry and were always spending as much time together as possible." The informant adds, "They're young, so things like this happen but they don't believe that the love went away."

The insider also shares that the "Cold Heart" singer is loved by Anwar's family members as she has bonded with his older sister. She even made her runway debut with Gigi at the Versace show during Milan Fashion Week last fall. Additionally, Dua was seen hanging with their mom Yolanda Hadid in multiple occasions.

"Dua is still super close with Gigi and Bella and Yolanda loves her like family, too," says the source. "Don't be surprised if you see them spending time together at some point again in the future."

Back in December, PEOPLE reported that Dua and Anwar are "currently taking a break." The pair allegedly were "spending time apart" while "figuring things out." According to The Sun earlier this month, "traveling so much and being apart is proving tough" for the couple. Dua was busy going back-and-forth between Los Angeles and London to record her new music while her beau was in New York City.

The pair first sparked dating rumors in 2019 when they spent majority of the Covid-19 lockdown together during early pandemic last year. "Quarantine in general could make or break a relationship, but we have both been so good at giving each other space and then also being with each other when we want to be," she previously gushed.

The source added, "We work really well together and he has just been amazing. And actually, it has just been the best thing for us with all this unexpected time. I have meant to go on tour (sic) and we got all this time to spend together."
