AceShowbiz - Cynthia Nixon has spilled the real reason why her character Miranda Hobbes is sporting gray hair on the "Sex and the City" revival "And Just Like That…". In a new interview, the actress revealed the very practical thought behind her character's look.

When making an appearance in the Wednesday, December 8 episode of "Live with Kelly and Ryan", the 55-year-old actress was asked by Kelly Ripa about how she along with other co-stars of the film have taken heat for appearing on the HBO Max series with gray hair. "The newspapers were breathlessly reporting that some of you were sporting gray hair," said the host sarcastically.

In response, Cynthia pointed out why the chief writer and director of the series, Michael Patrick King, thought the decision was appropriate. "Right. Well, Michael Patrick King who is our chief writer and director, he was like, 'You know, a lot of women during the pandemic, they couldn't get out to the beauty parlor and they decided to go gray and then they decided that they liked it," she explained. " 'So if it was going to be one of the women, we think it would be Miranda.' So yeah."

Upon hearing Cynthia's explanation, Kelly admitted that she also faced criticisms for flaunting her gray hairs. "I didn't mind having gray hair during the pandemic, I really didn't. I thought I looked cute with my hair gray. And then there were people who were like, 'It's not as cute as you think,' " so said the wife of Mark Consuelos.

In addition to Kelly and Cynthia, who have been receiving negative comments about their gray hair, Cynthia's co-star Sarah Jessica Parker also received criticisms over her silver hair. The backlash came after she was spotted dining with Andy Cohen. "There's so much misogynist chatter... I'm sitting with Andy Cohen, and he has a full head of gray hair, and he's exquisite. Why is it okay for him?" she shared in her cover story interview for Vogue's December issue

Sarah added that people could be judgmental "especially on social media." The six-time Golden Globe winner elaborated, "Everyone has something to say. 'She has too many wrinkles, she doesn't have enough wrinkles.' "

As for Andy, he said that seeing "And Just Like That…" stars flaunting their gray locks is "revolutionary." Speaking to Drew Barrymore during his appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show", he said, "I think this new 'Sex and the City' iteration is going to be quite revolutionary because from what I understand, it's going to show the women living vibrantly in their 50s and at this stage in their lives."

"[Sarah] is not going to be running around in a tutu and high heels, they are going to be living in their 50s as beautiful women," Andy elaborated. The 53-year-old TV host added, "I think it's going to be a wonderful message."
