The 'Eve-Olution' rapper says she has to tone down her Philadelphia accent at home in London so husband and stepkids can make sense of what she's saying.

AceShowbiz - American rapper and actress Eve talks like a Brit when she's home in the U.K. - otherwise no one understands a word she's saying.

The star, who's expecting her first child with British husband Maximillion Cooper and is stepmum to her man's four kids from a previous relationship, is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has a strong hometown accent.

So the former host of U.S. chat show "The Talk" has to tone it down and use English expressions to help people make sense of what she's saying.

"I live in London, I've been there eight years. I love it there," she shares on "Live with Kelly and Ryan".

"But, listen, to make life easier, especially if I'm around my bonus kids and my family, I'll say (British words like) 'queue' or 'jumper' or 'rubbish.' "

"You have to, otherwise they don't understand me."

She won't be showing up in Philadelphia sounding like she's walked off the "Bridgerton" set, however.

"I can't go back to Philly with an accent," she smiles.

At first, Eve doubted her relationship with Maximillion Cooper would last. She told People magazine, "In the beginning when I first met my husband, then-boyfriend, I was like, 'This is never gonna last because you got four kids! How's this gonna work?' But then I met the kids and honestly was like 'Wow, kids are amazing.' "

In a different occasion, she opened up, "With my [four] stepchildren, we have discussions. We talk about race, we talk about--especially in America. The things that go one here. Especially when [Maxmillion] comes here and he sees the violence that's going on, the police brutality. Things that he didn't think still happened because he's White. And that's just real."
