In season 18 premiere, one contestant is discovered to have been on the show for apparently the wrong reasons and is sent home by Michelle despite denying the accusations.

AceShowbiz - "The Bachelorette" season 18 premiered on Tuesday, October 19 on ABC. In the new season, viewers were treated to Michelle Young's journey to find love among thirty incredible men who attempted to "impress Michelle with their charm, wit and dashing good looks."

The first suitor to arrive that night was Nayte. Michelle, who is a teacher, then met Romeo and Jack. Clayton then made his entrance, telling her that he used to get in trouble in school. Bringing her a ruler, Clayton said, "In case I do get out of line I brought you something."

Later, Michelle met Jamie and she thought he had "some swag." Following it up was Chris S. who arrived in a school bus instead of the limo. Rick then tried to impress Michelle as he met Michelle with his head coming out of a room service cart. "I want you to enjoy your appetizers tonight, but when you're ready for your main course, come and find me," he teased Michelle.

As for Ryan, he arrived an ice cream truck and Michelle thought that was "a pretty sweet entrance." Making sure that he had a memorable entrance was Rodney, who showed up dressed as an apple. Pizzapreneur Peter tossed pizza dough in the air, while Brandon J. made his first impression by arriving on a bed.

The drama began when Michelle met Joe, who was apparently the guy she DM-ed about basketball before he "ghosted" her. In the episode, Michelle confronted Joe about the matter and Joe explained to her that at the time, he'd been dealing with "a lot of anxiety" following George Floyd's death.

"I didn't feel like I was in a place to open up to somebody," he said. "I didn't know how to express those feelings with you... It's something that I wish I could've handled better, but I'm glad we're having this conversation now." Michelle understood, but she was worried that he might "shut down again" if he kept having problem expressing his feelings.

Later, Michelle chatted with Ryan and she felt that she whom she "connected with [him] right off the bat." However, it changed after co-hosts Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe told Michelle about the notes found in Ryan's hotel room. The notes were about getting more screen time and how to get a good edit, indicating that Ryan was there for the wrong reasons.

"When I'm watching the episodes I write stuff about Michelle... My friends gave me summaries of what 'The Bachelor' is, and that's what's written down there. There's nothing disingenuous... I'm not trying to do anything for the right reasons. I'm here for the right reasons. I've just never seen the show enough," Ryan explained.

Michelle, however, didn't buy it. "I am not OK starting a relationship on red flags... Unfortunately, I will be walking you out," so she told Ryan.

At the rose ceremony, Michelle handed roses out to Jamie, Leroy, Martin, Spencer, Rick, Clayton, Peter, PJ, Mollique, Romeo, Daniel, Brandon J., Will, Chris S., Rodney, Alec, Pardeep, Christopher G., Olumide and LT. There was one rose left and after much consideration, Michelle decided to give it to Joe. Unfortunately, Brandon, Bryan, Edward, Garrett, Jack and JoMarri were sent home.
