The 49-year-old TV host, who had been with the series for 19 years, announced that he permanently quit 'The Bachelor' earlier this month after he took a break from the franchise over racism scandal.

AceShowbiz - Chris Harrison may lose his job after his tone-deaf comments regarding racism, but it has been reported that the TV host got a huge amount of money prior to his exit from "The Bachelor" franchise. According to Variety, ABC paid Chris "roughly $10 million" in order him to leave the franchise, on which he served as host for 19 years.

The report claims that the sum is "a combination of a $9 million exit settlement, plus remaining contractual fees upon leaving the job he held since 2002." The new report contradicts previous reports which stated that Chris was paid "a significant eight-figure payout" for his departure.

Chris Harrison announced that he permanently quit "The Bachelor" on Tuesday, June 8. Addressing his exit on his Instagram account, the 49-year-old penned, "I've had a truly incredible run as host of The Bachelor franchise and now I'm excited to start a new chapter." He added, "I'm so grateful to Bachelor Nation for all of the memories we've made together. While my two-decade journey is wrapping up, the friendships I've made will last a lifetime."

Prior to his exit, the TV favorite stepped back from the franchise after landing in hot water over his comments on Rachael Kirkconnell's antebellum-style party. During his discussion on the matter with former "The Bachelorette" star Rachel Lindsay, who criticized Rachael for attending the party which was believed to be linked to America's slavery past, Chris appeared to defend Rachael.

"I saw a picture of her at a sorority party five years ago, that's it," Chris opined. "My guess? These girls got dressed up and went to a party, and had a great time. They were 18 years old. Now, does that make it OK? I don't know Rachel, you tell me. Where is this lens were holding up, and was that lens available, and were we all looking through it in 2018? I don't know."

In response to the backlash over his comments, Chris issued an apology which read, "I have no one to blame but myself for what I said and the way I spokeā€¦I set standards for myself, and have to meet them. I feel that with every fiber of my being. By excusing historical racism, I defended it. I invoked the term 'woke police,' which is unacceptable. I am ashamed over how uninformed I was. I was so wrong. To the black community, to the BIPOC community: I am so sorry. My words were harmful. I am listening, and I truly apologize for my ignorance and any pain it caused you."
