AceShowbiz - Rockers Tool saluted late Rush drummer Neil Peart onstage in San Diego, California on Friday, January 10, hours after learning of his death from brain cancer.
The legendary Canadian musician passed away on Tuesday, January 7, but his loss was only made public on Friday, prompting Tool to put together a last-minute tribute for their show at Viejas Arena.
As a photo of drummer Danny Carey with his old pal appeared on the venue's big screens, the sticksman performed a Rush-inspired solo, before the rest of the group joined in for a brief cover of Rush's "A Passage to Bangkok".
Tool also arranged for Rush's "2112" album to play over the arena's speakers after the gig, as fans made their way to the exits.
The concert salute for Peart, who had secretly battled cancer for three years, occurred as further tributes poured in from the likes of the Foo Fighters, Slash, Metallica, and Dream Theater, who held a moment of silence for the drumming icon during their Saturday night gig in Amsterdam, Holland.
