Thanks to the support from her close friends, including Taylor Swift and Halsey, the 27-year-old singer was able to finish her opening act at the 47th American Music Awards on Sunday.

AceShowbiz - Selena Gomez made her first TV performance in two years at the 2019 American Music Awards on Sunday, November 24. The 27-year-old singer took the stage to perform two of her newest singles, "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now", and a new report suggested that she had a hard time in backstage prior to that.

According to a source, "Selena did have a panic attack before her performance, but she ultimately decided to push through and perform anyway." The informant went on saying to Us Weekly on Monday, "She had rehearsed and was excited to get back on stage, but she got nervous right before because it's been a while."

The insider, however, revealed that the pre-show jitters wasn't because of her ex Justin Bieber, who was behind her inspiration to pen the lyrics of "Lose You to Love Me". "She just got nervous because it's been 2 years since she's been on stage like that and she knew all her friends were watching her," said the source. "She really wanted to put on a great performance and was putting pressure on herself."

Thanks to the support from her close friends, including Taylor Swift and Halsey, Selena was able to finish her opening act. "Taylor Swift knew what Selena was going through and offered her full support for her beforehand and during the performance," explained the source of the newly-minted Artist of the Decade. "Taylor was so proud of Selena. She didn't let it affect her for the rest of the night and she had a great time at the show."

While Selena attempted to give the best for her TV return, her performance didn't go without criticism. The "Wolves" singer was slammed online singing off key during her performance of "Lose You to Love Me".

Fans on Twitter were quick to drag the singer as one tweeted, "Selena Gomez really sung 'off key in her chorus,' " referring to the lyrics of the song that read, "And let it burn / Sang off-key in my chorus." Another fan wrote, "Sang off key in my chorus is not just a lyric in this selena Gomez song but clearly a motto she lives by when performing. This is PAINFUL." Meanwhile, someone else added, "Woah off key is right. Selena Gomez is horrible."
