In a statement about the settlement, Bloom Hergott notes that the firm are pleased they managed to reach an agreement with the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star for a fraction of his original demand.

AceShowbiz - Johnny Depp has settled his bitter dispute with his former lawyers a month before the case was set to go to trial.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star launched his $50 million (£38.7 million) malpractice suit against Bloom Hergott executives in 2017, but the matter has been resolved.

"The former law firm of Bloom Hergott, with the help of its insurance carrier, has favorably settled the litigation with Johnny Depp for a fraction of his original demand," a statement reads. "While the firm was confident it would prevail at trial, we are nonetheless pleased with this resolution as it expedites the firm's winding down process and allows it to get off the endless Johnny Depp litigation train."

The matter was set to hit the courtroom on December 2.

Depp was represented by the law firm for almost two decades.

The actor can now focus all his energy on a looming defamation trial with his ex-wife, Amber Heard, which is scheduled for February (2020).

He has claimed she identified him as a wife abuser in an article she wrote for The Washington Post. He is seeking $50 million in damages.
