Despite her doubts over her own credibility, the 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' actress claims to be 'pretty confident' portraying the villain opposite Angelina Jolie in the sequel film.

AceShowbiz - Michelle Pfeiffer still feels insecure about her acting abilities after launching her career without any formal training.

Despite the decades of film roles under her belt, the actress still feels uncertain every time time she takes on a new project, and recalls doubting her own credibility.

"I think it comes from not having a background of formal training...," Pfeiffer tells Entertainment Tonight, "and I think when I started out, a lot of actors were coming out of Juilliard (top drama school) and I was just this young person from Orange County kind of just getting by on my instincts purely."

"I think, for the longest time, I felt like it wasn't really enough and maybe didn't give me the credibility... I had to find my technique as I went along. I didn't sort of start from a real secure place."

Despite her insecurities, the 61-year-old enjoyed her time on the set of her new film, "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil", where she got to face off with Angelina Jolie.

"I had a blast on this," she adds. "I'm pretty confident with the villains now. I know where to go for that."

The sequel, which also features Elle Fanning, hits theatres on 18 October.
