It's speculated that false rumors of gunfire or a fight are what cause the stampedes at the rapper's annual Lil WeezyAna Fest at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.

AceShowbiz - What was supposed to be a peaceful music festival turned into a chaos at Lil Wayne's Lil WeezyAna Fest at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans on Saturday night, September 7. According to multiple reports, two stampedes broke out during Meek Mill's performance that resulted in injuries, damage and theft.

Report suggested that the first stampede took place around 8:40 P.M. before the second one followed just after Meek finished performing. Police weren't sure as to what caused the stampedes, but speculated that false rumors of gunfire or a fight could have prompted panic. "My brother said to me and my cousin, 'Run. Just run. I don't know what's happening,' " local attorney Melanie Melasky recalled. "I turned around at one point to see what was happening, but everyone was running away."

George Krider, an employee that operated drink booths at the festival, added, "It was a stampede. The first thing you think is, 'Was it gunshot?' I think it was a fight."

The chaos left multiple people injured, with reports suggesting that concertgoers were being knocked to the ground and suffering cuts, scrapes and bruises. Fortunately, on-site medical staffers provided care. Besides, some people looted during the melee, stealing from cash registers and tip jars. There were also some who took bottles of liquor and other drinks when the employees ran for their safety. Furthermore, parts of fencing, concession stands and medical tents were damaged by panicked concertgoers.

Despite the chaos, the festival continued as stars like DJ Khaled and Lil Tunechi delivered their performance. Travis Scott (II) also took the stage to headline the event, which was first held in 2015 as a part of a celebration of New Orleans' recovery since Hurricane Katrina that left more than 1,000 people dead back in 2005.
