AceShowbiz - Director Len Wiseman's "Swamp Thing" TV adaptation has been axed after the airing of just one episode.
The "Underworld" filmmaker shot the pilot for the new series, based on the 1970s comic book character, and the first installment debuted on the DC Universe streaming service on 31 May.
However, less than a week after its premiere, "Swamp Thing" has officially been scrapped, despite early positive reviews from fans and critics alike.
The news emerges shortly after reports suggested production on the series, co-executive produced by Wiseman and horror master James Wan, had been halted prior to filming the season one finale.
The remaining nine episodes in season one will continue to be released weekly, as previously scheduled, even though bosses at Warner Bros. Television have opted not to move forward with a second season.
"Swamp Thing", based on the superhero created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, starred "Teen Wolf" actress Crystal Reed as Dr. Abby Arcane, who is tasked with investigating what appears to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana.
