'Game of Thrones: The Last Watch' is set to arrive on the network on May 26, a week after the series airs its finale on May 19.

AceShowbiz - Rejoice, "Game of Thrones" fans! The eighth and final season of the hit HBO series apparently is not the only thing that fans will get this year. HBO has announced a special documentary titled "Game of Thrones: The Last Watch" which is about the making of the final season.
The two-hour doc is set to arrive on the network on May 26, a week after the series airs its finale on May 19. "Game of Thrones: The Last Watch" is described as a chronicle of the show's "most ambitious and complicated season." It will delve "deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields and car-parks of Northern Ireland."
Labeling it as a featuring film, HBO further describes "The Last Watch" as "a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world -- and then have to say goodbye to it."

The doc will also feature the "trenches of production" in addition to including footage of "the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers."
Jeanie Finlay directed "The Last Watch", which is produced by Glimmer Films production for HBO. She previously helmed other documentaries including "Seahorse", "Orion: The Man Who Would Be King" and "Pantomime" among others. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are attached as producers, joining Bernadette Caulfield and Finlay. Rachel Hooper and Martin Mahon are also producing.
"The Last Watch" is slated to air on May 26 at 9 P.M. on HBO. It will also be available on HBO Now, HBO GO and HBO On Demand. As for season 8 of "Game of Thrones", it will arrive on April 14 on HBO.
