AceShowbiz - "American Idol" continued with a new episode on Monday, March 25. The episode featured the continuation of the last episode's Group Rounds which saw Nate Walker being rushed to the hospital after losing his voice. He returned after getting the medicine he needed. However, his voice was still pretty much hoarse so his team decided to cut Nate's solo part short.
During their Group Rounds performance, judges Katy Perry, Luke Perry and Lionel Richie asked him to sing his entire part out of fairness to the members of the group. He was struggling but he managed to get through it. The judges then decided to send him and the other three members to the Solo Round.
The next round would cut down the remaining 70 contestants to 40. Walker Burroughs kicked off the Solo Round by performing a rendition of "Your Song" by Elton John. Following it up was Juan Pablo, who opted to sing "Million Reasons" by Lady GaGa as his attempt to show that he could be a serious performer. However, it didn't seem to be convincing enough for Katy as she said that she didn't think Juan's vocals were great.
Meanwhile, Riley Thompson impressed the judges with his performance of "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash. Also getting praises from the judges were Raquel Trinidad, who sang Roberta Flack's "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face", and Evelyn Cormier, who performed Oasis' "Wonderwall".
However, the judges didn't seem to be happy with Eddie Island's song choice as he sang an original song called "1974". The judges also weren't fond of Wade Cota's original song. On the other hand, Alejandro Aranda earned a standing applause for his original track called "10 Years".
Some singers were struggling during the Hollywood Week. Nate Walker forced himself to sing "Always on My Mind" by Willie Nelson despite his hoarse voice. Tyler Mitchell forgot the lyrics midway through his performance of "Broken Halos" by Chris Stapleton.
The next performer was Drake McCain. He sang "Always on My Mind", before Bumbly took to the stage to perform Ariana Grande's "God Is a Woman". Later, Nick Townsend belted out Shawn Mendes' "In My Blood", with Gaba singing "Jealous" by Labrinth.
Also singing "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" for Solo Round was Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon. Everyone loved it as the judges called him an "amazing singer" in addition to giving him a standing ovation. Kate Barnette then showcased her vocals by singing "Daughters" by John Mayer. Myra Tran and Shayy performed next, but their nerves seemingly got the best of them so they were unsure about their fates.
Singing "Stars" by Grace Potter was Laci Kaye Booth. Next up was Uche, who wanted to show a new side of himself through a performance of Alessia Cara's "Scars to Your Beautiful". The judges were moved by it as they raised to their feet for him.
Madison VanDenburg then sang Adele's "All I Ask" though she initially planned to sing an original song. Austin Michael Robinson also changed his song choice after struggling to hit the high note on "Speechless" by Dan + Shay. He then made a last-minute decision to sing "Parachute" by Chris Stapleton.
Alyssa Raghu, meanwhile, offered a powerful performance of "What About Us" by Pink. Her performance was followed with Johanna Jones who sang her rendition of "Wicked Games". Not only that, her boyfriend came up to the stage to surprise her with a public proposal. Katy cried over the sweet moment and Johanna definitely said yes to her boyfriend.
It was the time for the judges to make final selections. The contestants were put in 3 different rooms. Room 1 had Uche, Johanna, Laci, Nick, Walker, Margie, Drake, Laine Hardy and Alejandro. Room 2 had Austin, Gaba, Katie and Juan Pablo, while Room 3 was consisted of Tyler, Wade, Alyssa, Bubly and Eddie.
It was later announced that the singers in Room 1 and 3 were heading to Hawaii for the Showcase Round and Final Judgements. That means, Austin, Gaba, Katie and Juan Pablo and those who were in Room 2 were eliminated.
