Offering an apology, the 44-year-old singer-songwriter says that his message is posted in support of Big Boi, who performed at the halftime show.

AceShowbiz - Cee-Lo Green recently irked many social media users after for a tweet he posted in support of Big Boi, who joined forces with Maroon 5 and Travis Scott (II) for the Super Bowl LIII halftime show over the weekend. In the since-deleted tweet, the 44-year-old singer-songwriter cussed out those who protested against the trio's decision to perform at the annual big game.
"Yo big we riding wit you fam DO THAT S**T! F**k these so called protesters you just got 100m worth of press. I'll kill for you," Green penned on the micro-blogging site, before people started flooding the reply section with hatred comments. Many highlighted the fact that the protest was designed to underscore Colin Kaepernick's stand against racial discrimination.
One tweeted, "F**k the protesters? Those protesters are protesting inequities in law enforcement and police brutality and doing it for people of color like us SMH." Another said, "Is press more important than the right of your ppl to live w/o fear of death? 2 have free speech? 2 protest non-violently?"

In response to the backlash, Green later issued an apology as well as clarified what he meant in the tweet. Insisting that people misunderstood his intention, he said, "I hope that you will receive this post as clarity, closure, and most important, an apology."
"I posted yesterday, excited in the heat of the moment and spirit of triumph in support of my fellow Atlantan, teammate and brother Big Boi," he added. "My post was speaking exclusively to him and about those who were opposed to him performing. I would NEVER disrespect or devalue the stance or the severity of why it has been a call to arms as far as out living situation here in America. I am well aware, I fully support, and I stand with all of my extended family around the world."

Concluding the post, Green once again offered his apology to those who were offended by his words. "I sincerely apologize to those I have offended and hope this helps clarify my intentions," he said.
