Aside from recalling what she felt the first day she filmed her new sitcom 'Fam', the former star of 'The Vampire Diaries' admits she was 'a little apprehensive' about returning to the small screen.

AceShowbiz - Actress Nina Dobrev was "absolutely terrified" on the first day of shooting her new TV show as she suffered an attack of the nerves.

The former "The Vampire Diaries" star has been working in the industry for years, but having to film in front of a live audience for her new sitcom "Fam" was a whole other experience - and she wasn't quite prepared.

"The very first live show was absolutely terrifying, and I felt like I was going to die. I don't think I've ever felt that much anxiety in my life," she recalled to W magazine. "But with every show after that, it went away a little bit more and more, to the point where it is still there (but it's not crippling)."

Nina admits that having some nerves about a project actually makes her "feel alive", and she's open to doing theatre one day in the future, however, she is thrilled to be starring in her first sitcom, in which she plays a newly-engaged woman whose life is turned upside down when her out-of-control teenage half-sister moves in with her.

"This was an opportunity that came up, and I had never done a sitcom before," the brunette beauty said. "I'm a massive fan of 'Friends', and the genre had really intrigued me, but I didn't know much about it...

"I was a little apprehensive (about returning to TV) at first, but honestly, finding a great character and great people that you want to work with is such a blessing."

"Fam" premiered in the U.S. last month (January 2019).
