AceShowbiz - "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is soon to wrap its story. The Netflix series, which is based on Lemony Snicket's YA book series of the same name, has announced that its third and final season will arrive in January next year.

Alongside the premiere date announcement, the Neil Patrick Harris-starring series has revealed a new teaser which glimpses of what will the Baudelaire siblings' last unfortunate experiences be like.

In the teaser, Harris' Count Olaf insists that what the siblings have been through are "a series of golden opportunities" that is "drawing so close to fruition." Then the chameleon con man and narrator Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warbuton) tease that in the forthcoming season, "All will be revealed."

Previously, showrunner Barry Sonnenfeld told Entertainment Weekly that season 3 would be "the most emotional season yet." He went on detailing, "It's got a lot of action, and the kids have become much more proactive and less victims."

He also alluded to a possible open ending, explaining, "When you see 'The End', you'll think that it's what Daniel always had in mind, though it's not. It wraps up in such a strong way that you may think we came up with the idea at the beginning of the first season."

In addition to Harris, Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes and Presley Smith will reprise their roles as Violet Baudelair, Klaus Baudelair and Sunny Baudelaire respectively. They will be joined by Allison Williams, whose character Kit Snicket is set to play a bigger role in the final season following her reveal in the season 2 finale. Fans also expect that the new season may finally discover the truth of their parents' deaths.

Based on the final four books of the series, "The Slippery Slope", "The Grim Grotto", "The Penultimate Peril" and "The End", season 3 of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" will premiere on January 1, 2019.
