Artist of the Week: Quavo
Music

The Atlanta rapper's debut solo album, 'Quavo Huncho', peaks at No. 2 on Billboard 200 in addition to ruling Top R'n'B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

AceShowbiz - Whether as a group or as a solo artist, Quavo's music has always been something that people love and enjoy. The Atlanta rapper proves it once again when he released his debut solo album "Quavo Huncho" on October 12.

Although the album debuted at No. 66 on Billboard 200 due to less than a day of activity, it blasted to No. 2 in the following week after a full week of tracking. Featuring appearances from the likes of 21 Savage and Madonna, the set additionally topped Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and peaked at No. 2 on Canadian Albums chart.

Meanwhile, the tracks off the record gained considerable traction as it locked in seven songs on the Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Among them were Drake-assisted "Flip the Switch", "Workin Me" and "Rerun" featuring Travis Scott (II). With that, he now has a total of 21 entries on the tally, the most among the three Migos members.

Besides his work on Migos and his own music, Quavo has also collaborated with numerous musicians throughout his career. For his latest collaboration, the rapper partnered up with ESPN Music to write and record a new song celebrating LeBron James joining the Los Angeles Lakers. Prior to this, he co-wrote Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z's hit song "Apes**t."

In a recent interview with GQ magazine, Quavo revealed the reason why he decided to drop a solo album, and it had something to do with his group Migos.

"If I make myself a great artist by doing this, it only makes our group super, super huge. It makes the demand even bigger and better, because then we'll be able to do a Migos concert and solo tours all in one," he said. "My dream is to host a concert, but let the Migos headline, and I open up. And each solo artist opens up for the Migos."
