New 'Luke Cage' Season 2 Trailer Introduces Powerful Villain

'Everybody talks about Luke Cage like he's Jesus,' says a character in voiceover.

AceShowbiz - A new trailer of the upcoming season 2 of "Luke Cage" has been unearthed by Netflix. The trailer teases that in the sophomore season, Luke (Mike Colter) will be meeting a strong villain who manages to knock him down while he's dealing with the aftermath of his identity revelation.

The trailer opens with Luke skyrockets to fame in Harlem after his identity as a bulletproof hero is revealed. "Everybody talks about Luke Cage like he's Jesus," says a character in voiceover.

The trailer continues showing action-packed scenes in which Luke showcasing his super strenght and unbreakable skin. Although someone believes that "one man cannot save a community," Luke doesn't seem to be bothered by the statement, until he meets Bushmaster (Mustafa Shakir), one of Luke's most recognizable villains from Marvel Comics lore.

Somewhere in the trailer, the hero and the villain are going head to head with the former coming with a full confidence in his face. But unbeknownst to Luke, Bushmaster is not an ordinary man he thinks he is as the former punches Luke. Fortunately, Luke is not alone as Simone Missick reprises her role as Misty Knight, the NYPD detective last seen on "Marvel's The Defenders".

Also starring in the sophomore season are Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard. The latter concludes the trailer by saying, "Harlem doesn't need a hero. It needs a queen."

Season 2 of "Luke Cage" will see the titular hero becoming "a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin" after clearing his name. "But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can't save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain."

"Luke Cage" will return on Friday, June 22 on Netflix.
