The shocking cancellation comes in the wake of the cancellation of 'Marvel's Iron Fist' last week.

AceShowbiz - Netflix has pulled the plug on another Marvel-related series. Following the cancellation of "Marvel's Iron Fist" last week, the streaming giant has announced that it's decided to can "Luke Cage" after running for 2 seasons. Deadline was first to break the news.

"Unfortunately, Marvel's 'Luke Cage' will not return for a third season," Marvel and Netflix said in a joint statement. "Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem's Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series."

A source reveals to The Hollywood Reporter that Marvel and Netflix come to the conclusion after facing creative differences. It's said that the two are unable to agree to terms for a third season of the show.

Shortly after the cancellation announcement, the official Twitter of "Luke Cage" posted an art poster featuring the titular character depicter Mike Colter. "Always Forward" was written across the picture.

"Season 2 was much stronger than Season 1, it's a shame that it put people off so much they didn't want to come back to Season 2. Misty, Shades and Mariah's daughter, Tilda will be missed. #LukeCage," a sad fan wrote. Another fan seemingly was trying to be positive by thinking that the show might continued airing season 3 and beyond on the upcoming Disney streaming service. "I think this has to deal with Disney's new streaming service so I’m thinking they might pick it up and continue it there," the tweet read.

With both "Luke Cage" and "Marvel's Iron Fist" being canned on Netflix, that leaves "Daredevil", "Marvel's Jessica Jones" and "The Punisher" as the remaining Marvel shows on its roster. "Marvel's Jessica Jones" and "The Punisher" are slated to return for new seasons next year, while the future of "Daredevil" remains uncertain.
