EP and showrunner Neil Gaiman teases that 'things are gonna get darker' and 'more dangerous' in the upcoming sophomore season.

AceShowbiz - Following the rocky road and possible cancellation, "American Gods" has started its production for its upcoming season 2. The Starz fantasy series has taken to its official Twitter account to share a video featuring the cast and the crew preparing for the filming.
Ricky Whittle, who plays Shadow Moon, opens the footage, saying, "Where have you been?" Neil Gaiman, the author of the fantasy novel on which the drama is based, later says, "Hello, I'm Neil Gaiman. I'm at The House on the Rock. 'American Gods' is coming back for a new season, and we're just started the production."
He then teases, "Things are gonna get darker. Things are gonna get more dangerous."

Gaiman further attempts to hype fans up on the upcoming season 2 of the trippy series. He shares a photo of him, the crew and the cast, including Whittle, Ian McShane and Yetide Badaki. "Me? What am I doing? Oh, just hanging out with gods and mortals at the House on the Rock," he writes in the caption. "Why, yes, that is the Biggest Carousel in the World. Nothing special. (YES, IT WAS AMAZING. YES, IT WAS AS AMAZING AS YOU WOULD THINK.) @GodsOnAmazon @AmericanGodsSTZ."

"The first season was all about getting to the House on the Rock," Gaiman explains. "It's amazing to see everyone back, and to be entering the next stage of the story with the best bunch of actors around, along with some inspired filmmakers."
Fans are surely familiar with the location mentioned by Gaiman. The House on the Rock is the meeting place for a conference between the gods. Thus, it seems like the sophomore season will finally feature Wednesday (McShane) gathering his fellow Old Gods at the Biggest Carousel in the World to discuss his game plan, which is one of the most memorable sequences from Gaiman's novel.
Prior to this, "American Gods" have been going through a lot to start season 2 production following the exit of its showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. It was said that Fuller and Green parted ways with the Starz drama after clashing with producer FremantleMedia over budget and creative direction for the second season of the series. Jesse Alexander is now taking over the duties with fellow showrunner and EP Gaiman.
Season 2 of "American Gods" will premiere sometime in 2019 on Starz.
