MTV's "Teen Wolf" panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 21 delivered both sad and good news. Showrunner Jeff Davis announced that the upcoming sixth season would be the last for the show. The 20-episode season 6 will premiere in November and the 100th episode will serve as a series finale in 2017.

"I know we're sad about it and it's bittersweet but we're so happy to be able to come to Comic-Con and share it with you guys," said Davis. Tyler Posey said about working on the show, "There's nothing negative about all this. I'm really happy. I'm going to cry my eyes out [at the end.] And it's going to be an ugly-cry too."

His co-star Holland Roden echoed the sentiment, "I grew up with this gang of boys basically during my entire 20s... and it's been the craziest ride. I probably wouldn't be acting if it wasn't for this show."

The sixth and final season was also previewed in an action-packed trailer showing the season's villains, the Ghost Riders, in action. It also teased the twist, in which people in Beacon Hills start disappearing. There's a glimpse of Ian Bohen, who reprises his role as Peter.

"When we realized this might be the last season, we wanted to make sure we brought back these relationships," Davis said of the returning characters. "We definitely wanted Peter Hale back to see the relationship between Peter and Malia and what other trouble Peter could get into... and we also have some great scenes between Peter and Stiles. I wanted to see again and Ian and Dylan [O'Brien] have some great stuff this season so we'll see."

The season will be very much about saving Stiles, but it will also delve deep into "a Beacon Hills-wide mystery." Davis teased, "The Wild Hunt myth is that is passes through your town. If you're unfortunate enough to glance up at them, they take you with them."

Of this season's big bad, Davis said, "We have a Nazi Werewolf this season ... and we get to see how he was put into this big glass capsule. ... We're history buffs at 'Teen Wolf', so we wanted to have a villain we haven't seen before."

Thankfully, Argent is "there with Scott with the support that's needed." J.R. Bourne said, "I love where that relationship, over the series, has gone. It's what his daughter showed him, that he's more than a werewolf. He's a young man who carries equal morals to Argent."

Cody Christian, who has been confirmed to return as Theo, said his character had gone "to hell and back."
