Stapleton, who received New Male Vocalist of the Year Award a few weeks ago, takes home Song of the Year Award for 'Nobody to Blame' and Album of the Year for 'Traveller'.

AceShowbiz - The 51st annual Academy of Country Music Awards kicked off on Sunday, April 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Following co-hosts Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan's opening monologue, and Blake Shelton's performance of "Came Here to Forget", Chris Stapleton received the first award handed out during the telecast.

He took home the Song of the Year Award for his "Nobody to Blame" after beating out Little Big Town ("Girls Crush"), Eric Church ("Raise 'Em Up") and Eric Paslay ("She Don't Love You"). "You've got to be kidding me. I thought sure we were going to get girl crushed on this one," Stapleton quipped when accepting his trophy from presenters Jana Kramer and Von Miller.

Thomas Rhett was the next act taking the stage to collect an award that night. The singer's hit "Die a Happy Man" was named Single of the Year, and he thanked his wife, label and team in his speech.

A few moments later, Stapleton returned to the stage after he's announced as a winner in the Album of the Year category. His chart-topping set "Traveller" bested other titles like Sam Hunt's "Montevallo" and Rhett's "Tangled Up".

Stapleton has won three ACMs so far. He had accepted New Male Vocalist of the Year Award prior to the ceremony, which is currently airing on CBS. Other names already in the winner list include Kelsea Ballerini (New Female Vocalist of the Year), Old Dominion (New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year), Florida Georgia Line (Vocal Duo of the Year) and Eric Church (Video of the Year for "Mr. Misunderstood").
