AceShowbiz - Has %cBen Higgins% found "the one" on "The Bachelor" season 20 finale? The software salesman from Warsaw, Indiana, finally made his final decision in the episode that aired Monday, March 14, but first the final two girls, Lauren Bushnell and JoJo Fletcher, met his parents who flew to Jamaica.
Lauren met Ben's parents first. Ben's father immediately liked her, but his mother wasn't easily convinced. She grilled Lauren about her feelings for Ben and asked her if she had "what it takes" to commit to her son through "hard times."
In contrary, Ben's mother was impressed with JoJo. She appreciated that "JoJo showed up the way I would have showed up: terribly nervous." To the camera, Ben's mother admitted, "If I was to make that decision for Ben today, if it depended on me, I would pick JoJo." Both women said they would accept if Ben proposed to them.
After consulting with his parents, Ben took each of the girls on one final date. During the final date with Lauren, Ben admitted that he was "stressed." He expressed his concern that their relationship felt "too good to be true" and that it had not been tested yet. Before they parted ways, Ben told her, "Lauren, no matter what happens, you've made me a better person," which sounded like a goodbye message.
For the final date with JoJo, the couple took a dip beneath a Jamaican waterfall. But things got serious when JoJo asked Ben things like how they would continue their relationship long-distance if he picked her. JoJo then pulled Ben away from the cameras to have a private conversation in the bathroom.
"You love her, too? Am I right?" JoJo pressed Ben about the fact that there were still two women left, which was caught by the audio crew. "Yes," he confessed. Trying to assure JoJo, Ben told her, "Look at me, I'm sitting here on a bathroom floor with you tonight being as open with you as I possibly can be, and I love you."
On the day he was about to propose, Ben still didn't know which woman he would pick. He finally made up his mind after selecting the ring he would use to propose. He met JoJo first, which meant it's not going to end well for her.
"I didn't know if I could find love. I found it with you, but I found it with somebody else more," Ben told JoJo, basically telling her that he didn't pick her. JoJo felt "blindsided" and asked him, "You told me that you were in love with me, that I'm your best friend, that you can't imagine life without me, where did it go wrong?" Ben answered, "It didn't."
Before she left, JoJo told Ben that he should have never told her he loved her. In the limo, JoJo said, "I feel so confused. I feel speechless. I walked into today thinking that it could be the happiest day of my life. I never thought this would happen. ... I wish I could hate him or be really mad at him but I can't. I was getting my heart broken and I still didn't want to see him cry."
Ben needed some time to pull himself together before calling Lauren's father to ask for her hand in marriage. Lauren's dad gave him his blessing and then Lauren came. Ben got down on one knee and said, "I came into this honestly feeling unlovable ... then we go through this experience. It's a journey that's full of goodbyes."
He continued, "Lauren, I never want to say goodbye to you. I want to wake up every morning and kiss you on the face. I want to go to bed at night and wake up to the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on. My desire from here on out is to live for you. Commit to you. Hold you. Kiss you a lot. Lauren, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Lauren, will you marry me?"
Lauren said yes and their love story has just begun.
