Industry forecasters predict that the British singer's last album could sell around 130,000 copies in its first week and end seven-week reign of Adele's '25' on the chart.

AceShowbiz - David Bowie may finally get his first No. 1 album in the U.S. According to industry forecasters, the British singer's latest release "Blackstar" could sell around 130,000 copies in the week ending on January 14 and subsequently open atop next week's Billboard 200, replacing Adele's "25" which has been ruling the chart for seven consecutive weeks.

"Blackstar" arrived through ISO/Columbia Records on January 8, the day Bowie turned 69 and two days before he died. The veteran entertainer passed away after what's described in an official statement as "a courageous 18 month battle with cancer."

Bowie's 2013 set "The Next Day" is currently his highest-charting album in the U.S., debuting and peaking at No. 2 on Billboard 200. In his career, he scored six other top 10 efforts, including "Let's Dance" (No. 4), "Station to Station" (No. 3), "Young Americans" (No. 9) and "Diamond Dogs" (No. 5).

Following Bowie's death, his collaborator Tony Visconti said in a Facebook post that "Blackstar" was a "parting gift" to fans. "He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way," Visconti wrote.

"His death was no different from his life - a work of Art. He made 'Blackstar' for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn't, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry," he added.
