'Girl Meets World' Gets Season 3 Order

The new season will see Riley and her best friend Maya beginning a new chapter as they enter high school.

AceShowbiz - "Girl Meets World" is coming back for another year of adventures. Disney Channel has renewed the "Boy Meets World" spin-off for a third season. Production on the new season will begin in January for a spring 2016 premiere.

According to TheWrap which first reported the renewal, the second season will conclude the middle-school adventures of Cory and Topanga's daughter Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter). Season 3 will see the BFFs entering high school.

"Michael Jacobs has one of the most authentic voices in television today," said Disney Channels Worldwide EVP of Programming Adam Bonnett in a statement. "He and the entire 'Girl Meets World' team will not only continue to entertain families but also help kids discover who they are and who they want to be in this world."

Also starring the original stars of "Boy Meets World", Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, "Girl Meets World" is the No. 1-rated series in total viewers across all kid-targeted cable TV networks and among the top five cable TV series of the year among kids 2-11 and tweens 9-14, according to Disney Channel.

The show airs Fridays at 8:30 P.M.
