Following rumors that Steven Spielberg production company will split from Disney and may team up with Universal, people speculate that the two smash hits will get reboots.

AceShowbiz - Following rumors that DreamWorks will not team up with Disney again after their deal expires in 2016 and that Universal is going to be the new home to Steven Spielberg's production company, people start to speculate that Universal wants to reboot "Jaws" and "Back to the Future". However, it is still unclear that the studio and Spielberg have any plan to work on those properties.

Considering Spielberg and Universal's success on this year's "Jurassic World", The Hollywood Reporter suggested that Spielberg was "key on potential reboots of other Universal franchises such as 'Jaws' and 'Back to the Future'."

To make a reboot to "Back to the Future" is not impossible, but the idea doesn't seem to happen as the rights are owned by the film's director Robert Zemeckis and his co-writer Bob Gale. Moreover, the duo seemingly didn't want the movie to get any remake. "Oh, God no. That can't happen until both Bob and I are dead. And then I'm sure they'll do it, unless there's a way our estates can stop it," said Zemeckis back in July.

As for "Jaws" reboot, it also doesn't seem to happen. The original movie, which starred Richard Dreyfuss, has already got three follow-ups including "Jaws ", "Jaws 3D" and "Jaws: The Revenge". Therefore, it is not surprising that Spielberg has no interest in making any reboot.

A few years ago, Spielberg said that he had an idea for a scene to be put in a "Jaws" sequel, but he never did it. "Every time I think of this scene I think, 'Hmmm, could this be another Jaws movie?' and I have to immediately stop myself and immediately pull myself back down to Earth," Spielberg said.
