'The Americans' is renewed for a fourth season by FX, while new series 'Bloodline' gets season 2 order from Netflix.

AceShowbiz - Tuesday, March 31 is a good day for at least two shows. "The Americans" which airs on FX and "Bloodline" which was recently launched on Netflix have scored a renewal each from the companies which house them.

Spy drama "The Americans" has been handed a 13-episode order for season 4, which is slated to debut in 2016. The pick-up comes as the show is nearing the end of its third season, with the season finale set to air on April 22.

"Remarkably, this season of 'The Americans' has achieved even greater acclaim than that of its first two seasons," says Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. "The series has cemented it status with critics as television's best current drama and arguably the best show on TV, and we couldn't agree more."

Series creator Joe Weisberg and exec producer Joel Fields respond to the good news, "It's been a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a show like this with the immensely talented and immeasurably supportive team at FX and Fox 21 Television Studios. We are blessed with an extraordinary cast and crew and grateful that we'll all be able to continue telling this story that we love so much."

"Bloodline", meanwhile, is the latest original series which was launched by Netflix on March 20. It receives a second season order for a 2016 release. Production on the new season will begin later this year.

The drama thriller has received critical acclaims. From "Damages" co-creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler, it stars Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Sam Shepard, Sissy Spacek, Linda Cardellini and Norbert Leo Butz as the Rayburns who harbor dark secrets within the family.
