The 'American Idol' alum plays the hit song, which is currently at No. 9 on Billboard 200, at her first solo concert since giving birth to her first child, River Rose.

AceShowbiz - Kelly Clarkson wowed fans with her cover of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" when she performed at the grand opening of the Microsoft store in Charlotte, North Carolina recently. The event marked the "American Idol" alum's first solo show since giving birth to her first child River Rose.

"Anybody like Sam Smith here?" Clarkson asked the crowd shortly after performing her collaboration with Jason Aldean, "Don't You Want to Stay". "Well, I love this song. I know you've probably heard it a bunch, but just bear with me. I love it. This is called 'Stay With Me'."

"I just like the word 'stay' in songs, so I'm just going to sing it in every song," the new mom added before singing Smith's hit song over simple guitar and organ instrumentation.

The original "Stay With Me", featured on Smith's chart-topping debut album "In the Lonely Hour", peaked at No. 2 on Billboard Hot 100 and is currently sitting at No. 9 on the chart.

Clarkson, who welcomed her first daughter with husband Brandon Blackstock last June, recently revealed she'd been working on a new album. The "Tie It Up" singer tweeted, "I'm so proud of my next album! Might have a special guest on the album ....maybe :) Doesn't come out until early next year."
