Sherri Shepherd is transitioning from a chatty talk-show host to a wicked lady. The actress/comedian has landed her first Broadway role in Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella" as the titular princess' evil stepmother.

Shepherd made the announcement Tuesday, August 5 on ABC's daytime talk show "The View", which she will quit later this month. On the same day, a surrogate mother carrying a baby for her and her estranged husband Lamar Sally gave birth to a baby boy but she made no mention of it on the show.

The Angie Jordan on NBC's series "30 Rock" joins Keke Palmer, who was earlier cast in the title role for the musical play. "I'm sooooo excited to be doing broadway for the first time, as Cinderella!! DREAMS DO COME TRUE!!" the singer/actress tweeted after her casting news spread.

She will take over the role from the current actress Cindy Paige Faure who will lead the national tour of the production beginning October 10. Palmer and Shepherd will first join the cast of the production on September 9.

Besides "30 Rock", Shepherd's acting credits include series regular roles on sitcoms "Less than Perfect" and "Sherri". She had a recurring role on "Everybody Loves Raymond" as police Sgt. Judy Potterbrother, and recently guest starred in the last season of "How I Met Your Mother".
