Another DC Comics character is coming to the small screen. Just a day after FOX greenlit Batman prequel series "Gotham", NBC has now ordered a script for "Constantine", which is based on stories of DC Comics' anti-hero John Constantine, with penalty.
"Batman Begins" scribe David S. Goyer will pen the script along with "The Mentalist" executive producer Daniel Cerone. Both of them will also serve as executive producers. NBC will watch the pilot first before deciding whether it will move forward with the series or not.
John Constantine is an enigmatic and irreverent conman turned reluctant supernatural detective, who is thrust into the role of defending the human race against dark forces from beyond. He's first introduced in "Swamp Thing" (vol. 2) #37 in 1985 and has become the lead character in comic books "Hellblazer" and "Constantine".
Another TV series centering on DC Comics' character, The Flash a.k.a. Barry Allen, is currently being developed at The CW. "Glee" actor Grant Gustin has been cast in the role and will make his debut as a Central City assistant police forensic investigator in episode 8 of "Arrow" season 2. The potential new series is set as an origin series.
