Adam Levine says that 'to be successful in the business is extremely difficult,' and Christina Aguilera adds that it takes time.

AceShowbiz - "The Voice" original coaches, sans Blake Shelton, and host Carson Daly reunited at the Television Critics Association press tour on Saturday, July 27. During the presentation, they responded to concerns that the show hadn't launched a big star.

"It would be really nice if we were to launch a huge star. A lot of things have to happen for that to take place. I think that we all know that the lightning in a bottle you have to capture in order to be successful in this business is extraordinarily difficult," Adam Levine said. "I'm not sure that is the overall mission statement of the show. The fact that it hasn't happened yet doesn't seem like a shortcoming of a show, it just hasn't happened yet."

Daly agreed, stating, "It's not the main goal." The host, who also serves as the "Voice" producer, added, "There's winners on this show every day. This is an experience. They leave our show feeling like they won."

Citing her own experience, Christina Aguilera said that being successful is a long process. "It's not like everything needs to be like boom, boom, boom, then record deal, then No. 1 success. It doesn't happen like that. It didn't happen that way for me either. Like, for instance, my experience with 'The Mickey Mouse Club', the alumni from that show, you know, you have huge names - Britney [Spears], Justin [Timberlake], Ryan Gosling. But, you know, right after the show, did we rocket to success right after it? No. It takes time," she explained.

The "Your Body" songstress added, "It's more about giving an opportunity. It's up to you to use that opportunity and take it to the next level." Levine, who's just got engaged to Behati Prinsloo, chimed in, "This show is about promoting talent. If you are not in the negative you are succeeding."

Talking about her temporary departure from the show last season, Xtina said, "I had to take a moment to step back and away from the camera and remember what my intention is reentering the business. Thank god for Shakira. She did a beautiful job." Levine also hinted that he needed a break, but didn't reveal when he planned to do so.

Daly additionally said that new twists introduced in each season were example of how the show rejuvenated a season. "We'll reserve that right for the future," he said of the format change, though he wouldn't reveal what twists that would be incorporated into the show in the upcoming season.

Cee-Lo Green, who was replaced by Usher in season 4, also returns to the fifth cycle, which will premiere Monday, September 23 at 8 P.M. on NBC.
