The 'Liz and Dick' executive producer shares updates on his next project, saying that they are currently looking for writers for the TV movie about the former daytime talk show queen.

While gearing up for the premiere of "Liz & Dick", Larry A. Thompson is working on his next project. Two years after he first announced a planned Oprah Winfrey biopic, the film producer is currently shopping the upcoming TV movie to networks and is still in the hunt for a scribe.
"We have a fantastic take on her life, and we're talking to networks now, as we speak, and we're interviewing writers right now, too," he gives some updates on the project when talking to Entertainment Weekly. He further gushes, "I think it will be the most fascinating biopic I've ever done."
Thompson goes on claiming that Winfrey's life itself is a fascinating story. "I am from Mississippi, as is Oprah Winfrey, and I believe that her start on a rural country road in Mississippi to the world stage that she lives is a journey that is nothing less than miraculous," he says.
On the same occasion, Thompson talks about the Elizabeth Taylor biopic which will premiere Sunday, November 25 at 9 P.M. on Lifetime. Opening up about the risk of casting Lindsay Lohan in the TV movie, he says, "When we first met with her, she had two probations, and when we finally closed the deal with her, there was only one probation."
"If we couldn't have gotten insurance, there would have been no movie," he goes on sharing. "We wound up having to go to Lloyd's of London to get what we called incarceration insurance.... We had to protect ourselves that if she were to have violated her probation during production, we wouldn't have had to close down and lose our movie."
To other producers who may want to hire the troubled actress, he shares some advice. "I want the best for Lindsay Lohan and anybody who ever hires her. But they have to know that making a movie with Lindsay Lohan is like jumping out of an airplane at 10,000 feet with a bolt of white nylon, a string, and a sewing machine. You're building a parachute as fast as you can," he says.
Thompson also dishes on a scene that people may assume it was made up, but it's totally real. "I believe that the scene in which Eddie Fisher comes home to that party, and Richard in front of everybody forces her to confess her love for him in front of Eddie, seems so outrageous, but it is so absolutely true," he insists, "having been reported many, many times over the years as happening just like that."
