Fresh off throwing the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, MTV is ready to hold its Europe Music Awards in the near future. Building the anticipation to the European event, MTV officially announces the awards' nomination list, which reveals the domination of North American artists Rihanna and Taylor Swift.
Riri leads the pack with a total of six nods, including Best Song, Best Female and Best Pop. Trailing close behind the Bajan songstress is country music beauty Swift with five noms. In addition to competing against Riri in the Best Female, Best Pop and Best Look categories, the "Mean" singer is up for Best Live and Best World Stage.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry are nominated in four categories each. The two will compete against each other in Best Pop and Biggest Fans categories. The Candian heartthrob is also up for Best Male and Best World Stage prizes, while the Californian beauty is also nominated for Best Female and Best Video for "Wide Awake".
Other nominees include Lady GaGa, Nicki Minaj, Lana Del Rey, Fun. and Carly Rae Jepsen with three nods each. Viral-video sensation PSY snatches a nomination in Best Video category, thanks to his famous clip for his hit song "Gangnam Style".
The 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards will air live on the channel at 11 P.M. ET/PT on Sunday, November 11. The show will take place at the Festhalle in Frankfurt, Germany. Fans can start voting in all EMA categories beginning from Monday, September 17 on MTVEMA.com or m.mtvema.com via mobile phone.
