Fans of "Smallville" can sigh a breath of relief now that The CW has officially announced the show gets another season. The network previously renewed some of its primetime shows but delayed the verdict on "Smallville". However, sources said the execs were leaning towards renewal since the show has been performing well rating-wise.

The momentous tenth season will begin in Fall this year. It is still unclear whether all the regular cast will be back. Last year, Allison Mack confirmed in an interview that there would be a season 10 where Tom Welling has been signed to. She said, "Tom has signed for season 9 and for a season 10, so the show will go until season 10. I will be completed with my contract next year, and I am looking for new and exciting ways to carry out my character's exit."

"Smallville", a tale of Superman in the making, ranks as The CW's #1 show in its time period among men 18-34 and men 18-49. Additionally, "Smallville" has dramatically improved The CW's ratings performance in its Friday 8:00-9:00 P.M. time period by 74|percent| in total viewers (3.12 million).

Still waiting for renewal/cancellation are "Melrose Place", "Life Unexpected", and "One Tree Hill".
