Wu-Tang Clan Biography

news-detailsWu-Tang Clan was formed in early 1990s and has since become one of the biggest rap groups in the game. The New York-based group was originally made up of rappers RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, Cappadonna and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard.

Wu-Tang Clan rose to fame in 1993 following the release of the independent single "Protect Ya Neck". Their debut album, "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)", came out later that year. It received rave reviews from critics and eventually became one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. In addition to working as Wu-Tang Clan, each member worked individually as an individual artist. Some of them put out their solo records before reuniting for the second Wu-Tang album "Wu-Tang Forever" in 1997.

The group returned with a new album called "The W" in 2000. They followed it up with "Iron Flag" a year later.

Bad news came in November 2004. On November 13, Ol' Dirty Bastard collapsed at Wu-Tang's recording studio, 36 Chambers on West 34th Street in New York City, and was pronounced dead later that day.

It took the Wus six years to finish their fifth studio effort, "The 8 Diagrams". After releasing the album in 2007, the Wu-Tang Clan members shifted back their focus on their respective solo projects. In 2013, they finally announced a follow-up which was later titled "A Better Tomorrow". The new project, which they worked on amid disputes between Raekwon and RZA, was originally planned for release later that year. They kept pushing it back until they announced December 2 as the official release date.

In addition to "A Better Tomorrow", the Wus are planning another album. In early 2014, they said they'd been working on it in secret in the past 6 years. Titled "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin", the record will be available in a limited edition of just one copy. They revealed that someone had expressed desire to purchase the special album for $5M.
