Stephen Gilchrist Glover, known professionally as Steve-O, is a stunt performer, comedian, and television personality who became a cultural icon in the early 2000s for his willingness to perform extreme and often painful stunts on the groundbreaking MTV series Jackass. Born in Wimbledon, London on June 13, 1974, to a Canadian mother and an American father, he holds triple citizenship from Britain, Canada, and the United States. His childhood was marked by frequent moves, living in countries including England, the United States, Brazil, and Canada, before he eventually settled in Florida to attend the University of Miami. It was there that he began filming his own stunts and pranks, creating video tapes he would mail to various production companies in hopes of gaining recognition.

His persistence paid off when his footage caught the attention of Jeff Tremaine and Johnny Knoxville, leading to his inclusion in the original cast of the MTV reality series Jackass in 2000. Steve-O's brand of chaotic, self-endangering performance art, which included acts like snorting wasabi and getting tattooed while skydiving, made him a standout figure. The show's massive success spawned a lucrative film franchise, including Jackass: The Movie, Jackass Number Two, and Jackass 3D, solidifying his place in pop culture. He further expanded his television presence through the Jackass spin-off series Wildboyz with co-star Chris Pontius, which focused on animal-centric stunts and adventures around the globe.

The intense lifestyle that fueled his career also led to severe struggles with substance abuse, resulting in numerous legal issues and a decline in his health. In March 2008, his Jackass co-stars, led by Johnny Knoxville, staged an intervention that compelled him to enter rehabilitation. This marked a pivotal turning point, after which Steve-O embraced sobriety and became a vocal advocate for recovery. He channeled his experiences into a 2011 memoir, "Professional Idiot," and reinvented himself as a stand-up comedian, blending storytelling with scaled-back stunt work in successful global tours.

In recent years, Steve-O has built a substantial digital presence through his popular YouTube channel and his podcast, Steve-O's Wild Ride!, where he interviews fellow celebrities and discusses his past and present life. He remains an active performer, participating in later Jackass projects like Jackass Forever, and has emerged as a passionate advocate for animal rights. His journey from a self-destructive stuntman to a sober entrepreneur and advocate stands as a significant part of his enduring legacy in entertainment.
