The neighbor told police he used air gun to scare Salma's dogs away as the animals always attacking his dogs when entering his property.

AceShowbiz - The gunman who fatally shot Salma Hayek's beloved dog Mozart is actually her own neighbor, TMZ reports. According to the site, police have closed the case because Salma's dog was trespassing on her neighbor's property.

Police sources tell the site that cops launched an investigation after Salma's neighbor confessed to shooting her dog, but there were extenuating circumtances. The neighbor claimed he was sick of Salma's dogs entering his property and attacking his own dogs. That allegedly happened every time Salma's caretaker took the dogs for a walk.

The neighbor revealed to police that some of Salma's dogs were entering his garage before he used a pellet gun to scare them away. The neighbor claimed he had never intended to kill the dogs. Police also believed the pellet gun commonly would not be lethal.

Salma took to Instagram on Friday, February 26 to mourn the death of Mozart. "I haven't posted for a week as I been mourning the death of my dog, Mozart who I personally delivered out of his mother's womb," she wrote alongside a photo of her beloved pet, "He was found dead in my ranch last Friday with a shot close to his heart."

She continued, "I am hoping that the Washington State authorities do justice to this wonderful dog whom in 9 years never bit or attacked anyone. He loved his territory and never strayed away...he was the most loving and loyal companion. He didn't deserve a slow and painful death. #doglover #animalrights #dog #dogoftheday #rip #delivery #washingtonstateauthorities."
