Vegas tells the story of Ralph Lamb, a simple yet feisty rancher who reluctantly accepts the role of Sheriff in 1960s Las Vegas, a town rapidly developing into the Sin City we know today. Lamb isn't happy with the way the town is heading; the tourists and planes make his work as a rancher a hundred times harder, and the influx and influence of Chicago mobsters looking to cash in on the casinos really rubs Lamb the wrong way. Vincent Savino, a trusted Chicago mobster, is sent out to Vegas to be the new general manager of The Savoy, the swankiest casino on the strip. Savino is a clever businessman who will do anything to get his way, even if that involves a bit of mobster strong-arming. Lamb and Savino instantly clash, especially when one of the Savoy's accounting executives, Bob Perrin, becomes a suspect in the investigation into the murder of the governor's niece. Lamb, his brother, Jack, and his son, Dixon, follow the evidence and eventually pin the murder on Perrin and take him into custody.
