Ana's (Eva Longoria) first real post-divorce relationship, with network president James McMann (Zachary Levi), is moving way too fast. After three weeks of dating, James is calling himself Ana's boyfriend, showering her with gifts and affection, and saying a certain three-word phrase way ahead of schedule. Ana decides she has to break up with him, but can't bring herself to do it. More pressure comes when the other cast members point out that if James gets upset, he could cancel Las Leyes. Ana tries to initiate the tough talk, but James misunderstands and thinks she's just uncomfortable dating her boss. So he quits his job, which raises the stakes even higher - the guy has even more free time to devote to Ana.
Finally, James stages a huge musical number, which Ana misinterprets as a surprise proposal, so she blurts out that she wants to break up. After he explains that he was simply asking her to be his date at his cousin's wedding, Ana apologizes through song - or something close to singing. He forgives her and they agree that he needs some time on his own. Days later, during a video chat, James shows Ana he's making a go of it in Tibet. But when the conversation freezes and Ana leaves the room, she misses seeing him plummet off an icy cliff.
