When Audrey's sister Barbara returns, Russell is sure that they will now make the jump from friends to lovers. Russell and Barbara spend a day together, and Russell discovers he has real feelings for Barbara. However, Barbara, who has always been a goody-two-shoes, is more interested in sowing her wild oats. She has a one night stand with a random guy, unknown to Russell. When Russell is about to profess his love for Barbara, Audrey gently stops him and explains that Barbara isn't ready for a serious relationship yet, shielding him from the reality that Barbara sees him just as a friend. Meanwhile, a burnt-out toaster spurs Adam and Jennifer to have an engagement party just to get the gifts. They invite people who won't be attending the wedding, hoping to acquire as much free stuff as possible. But their idea backfires when eventually they're invited to many other parties, and they have to buy a separate gift for all of them.
