Ray brings to Nathan's attention that with all the mother-son activities he is doing lately, Nathan is basically dating his mom Carol. When Nathan, Debbie, and Adam present the idea of internet dating to Carol, Tom overhears and mocks her for it. In retaliation, Carol signs up on a dating website with Nathan helping her create her profile. Nathan gets excited about one of Carol's potential matches named "The Sarge" but mostly because some of them sound like the perfect "dad" Nathan never had. Tom begins to have doubts about all this dating business, but when "The Sarge" actually shows up for his date with Carol, Tom reveals that he is more jealous about Nathan finding a new father figure than Carol going out on a date with him.
