Synopsis

COST-CUTTING LEADS TO MURDER -- When a high level insurance executive is found beaten to death on the Upper West Side, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) discover the prime suspect to be the distraught father (guest star Juan Hernandez) of a 9-year-old girl dying of leukemia and denied by her insurance company from receiving a possibly life-saving new drug. The motives behind the decision of the dead man's insurance company hit hard with D.A. Lewin (Dianne Wiest), who must determine how to best serve the cause of justice in a case in which there is a victim on both sides of the law.
