Kyle begins his new life with the man who created him, Adam Baylin. As Kyle learns more about who he is and how he came to be, his life only gets more complicated. Before Kyle can resolve his feelings,agents of zzyzx, the lab where Kyle was created, assassinate Baylin, leaving Kyle alone with Baylin's protector, Tom Foss. Foss destroys zzyzx's top-secret lab to end the threat to Kyle once and for all.

Even though things seems safe enough for Kyle to go home to the Tragers, the threat remains. Many things survive the explosion at zzyzx, including a girl who was raised in a pod, just like Kyle.
