With a nearly completed map in front of them, Nick (David Giuntoli), Hank (Russell Hornsby), Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), Rosalee (Bree Turner), Wu (Reggie Lee) and Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni) consult historical maps and books for clues until they find their X marks the spot: one of the seven churches on the map has a cross on top instead of a steeple. To stay ahead of Black Claw, Nick and Monroe depart for the Black Forest the next day. They speak with a priest at the church they believe hides the treasure, but he informs them the church is far too young to meet their description. Undaunted, Nick and Monroe set out into the Black Forest to continue searching. But unbeknownst to them, the priest and his minions follow. When Nick and Monroe find the remains of an old foundation, they begin digging. Soon, the ground around them begins to shake - and swallows them whole.

Back in Portland, things are faring no better. Both Hank and Wu and Hadrian's Wall are on the lookout for Marwan, an assassin for hire presumably summoned by Black Claw. After a near brush with the law, Marwan tries to call off the hit, but Lucien doesn't budge: He needs Capt. Renard assassinated. Marwan chooses Andrew Dixon's campaign rally, where Renard will be speaking, to do it. Hank, Wu and Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) all come to realize this, but they're too late to stop him. Marwan shoots and kills... Dixon.
