On a Friday night in Memphis, Grace (Merle Dandridge) finds herself in the awkward position of being the third wheel on a dinner date with her ex-boyfriend Noah (Ben Patterson) and his fiancee, Isabel (Anna Diop). History and hidden resentments hang heavy over the conversation.

Elsewhere, Sophia (Desiree Ross) and her new friends get into hot water at the church lock-in, and Kerissa (Kim Hawthrone) and Jacob (Lamman Rucker) go on a double date that forces them to confront the deficiencies in their marriage. Kerissa insists that they should begin couples therapy.

Kevin (Tye White), meanwhile, discovers that he has an unexpected--and unwanted--chemistry with Adrian (guest star Gary Weeks, "Allegiant"), who is working with Calvary on a program for the homeless.

At her blues bar on Beale Street, Mavis (Oprah Winfrey) deals with a young employee stealing money from the club's register, giving him a stern lecture on personal responsibility.

Mavis also has a run-in with her brother, Mac. Mavis believes that Mac has sexually abused multiple teenagers while working at Calvary, and now there is only enmity between the siblings. Mac issues a grave ultimatum to Mavis: If she doesn't get Grace to stop snooping in his business, he'll convince the mayor's office to close Mavis' establishment.

Grace, however, has no intentions of stopping. She finally meets up with Danielle, one of Mac's victims, who had confessed to the police only to recant her story later. She watches as her one and only real lead disappears.

Finally, Sen. Bob Banks (guest star Ali Mitchell, "Survivor's Remorse")continues his inquiry into the church's finances, which spurs the bishop (Keith David) into action. And, Grace admits to Noah the real reason she ended their relationship.
