Chicago P.D. Episode 3.15 A Night Owl

While manning a routine sobriety checkpoint late at night, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) stops what appears to be a mild-mannered college professor (guest star Richard Thomas) on his way to a lecture in Canada. Something about him causes Burgess suspicion, and after a K9 dog senses the presence of drugs, Intelligence is brought in to fully examine the professor's car. Everyone is shocked to discover that the car has a hidden compartment containing 10 kilos of heroin. Despite the professor's repeated claims of innocence, the case takes a turn when it's discovered that the professor was penpals with numerous convicts at Stateville Prison. The professor, in love with one of the convicts, had been transporting the drugs in an effort to save the convict's life.

Roman (Brian Geraghty) spends a day on the road with Platt (Amy Morton) as she tests him in the ways of being a Field Training Officer. A routine test turns into an actual case, however, when they discover a man acting erratically in the street, and assist him to safety.

Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) takes a surprising off-duty job as a security agent at a marijuana collective.

After Lindsay (Sophia Bush) implores Voight (Jason Beghe), Burgess joins Intelligence for a day to help with the suspected drug mule case. Later, after the case is solved, Lindsay gives Burgess advice on how to get through her breakup with Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger).
