AceShowbiz - Disney has officially announced a sequel to the 2025 live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch, titled Lilo & Stitch 2, which is slated for release in summer 2028, specifically on May 26 to coincide with the Memorial Day weekend.

The sequel will introduce the character Angel, a fan favorite from the original animated Lilo & Stitch series, marking her live-action debut. Angel, known as Experiment 624 and recognized as Stitch’s pink love interest, is expected to play a central role, with the story focusing more on her relationship with Stitch. This direction follows the significant changes made in the 2025 film where Nani does not keep custody of Lilo and is away at college, suggesting her absence will shape the new narrative.

Chris Sanders, co-creator and original voice of Stitch, returns to direct the sequel and will reprise his role voicing Stitch. Jonathan Eirich, producer of the first live-action remake, will produce through Rideback, with Ryan Halprin serving as executive producer. Maia Kealoha, who portrayed Lilo in the 2025 film, shared a playful comment about Angel’s appearance during the D23 event, reflecting excitement around the character’s new iteration.

Lilo & Stitch was initially released by Walt Disney Pictures in May 2025 and directed by Dean Fleischer Camp. The 2025 film starred Chris Sanders, Maia Kealoha, Hannah Waddingham, Billy Magnussen, Zach Galifianakis, Courtney B. Vance, and Sydney Elizabeth Agudong. While the live-action remake retold the story of a lonely girl who befriends an alien disguised as a blue puppy, it also faced backlash for altering key plot points, including Nani’s storyline.
