AceShowbiz - Kenny Chesney has reached a major milestone by charting his 100th song on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart with his latest single, "Carry On," which debuted at No. 31 on the May 23 list.
The track achieved 1.5 million U.S. streams eligible for the chart, 10.5 million in radio airplay audience, and 2,000 sales during the tracking week of May 8-14, according to Luminate data. "Carry On" is Chesney's first release on Hey Now Records, a new label that launched in March, and serves as a preview for his upcoming 21st studio album expected later this year.
Kenny Chesney has an impressive record on the Hot Country Songs chart, with 55 top 10 hits and 23 No. 1 singles among his 100 total charted titles. The new single also debuted at No. 20 on the Country Airplay chart, marking his 100th entry on that chart as well.
This landmark achievement places Chesney among an elite group of artists with 100 or more entries on Hot Country Songs, a chart that has been published since October 1958. He ranks third in total hits since his first charted single, "Whatever It Takes," appeared in December 1993. Only Morgan Wallen with 119 and Taylor Swift with 108 have more entries in that timeframe. The Hot Country Songs chart has used a multimetric methodology combining streaming, airplay, and sales data since October 2012.
On the Country Airplay chart, which started in January 1990 and tracks only country radio airplay, Chesney's 100th charted song ties him with George Strait for the most entries. Other top artists include Garth Brooks with 93, Tim McGraw with 91, and Alan Jackson with 82.
Kenny Chesney is also one of the most successful artists in terms of No. 1 singles on Hot Country Songs. His 23 chart-toppers place him 11th all-time behind legends like George Strait (44), Conway Twitty (40), Merle Haggard (38), and Ronnie Milsap (35). Notably, Chesney’s first No. 1 was "She's Got It All" in 1997.
His dominance is even more pronounced on Country Airplay, where he holds the record for the most No. 1 hits with 33. This achievement puts him ahead of Blake Shelton (30), Tim McGraw (29), and a group of artists tied with 26 each, including Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson, and George Strait.
Additionally, since clinching his first No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart with Greatest Hits in October 2000, Chesney has amassed 17 chart-topping albums, the most by any artist during that period.
These accomplishments highlight the remarkable breadth and consistency of Kenny Chesney's career, confirming his status as a mainstay in country radio and one of the most prolific hitmakers in the history of Billboard’s country charts.
