AceShowbiz - Disavowed is the latest Apple TV thriller series set to star James Marsden in a gripping globe-trotting espionage story. Marsden, known for his versatile roles across film and television, will headline the series as Brad Griffin, a legendary CIA Case Officer who is suddenly dismissed during an intense international manhunt for a mysterious assassin.

The plot centers on Brad Griffin’s fall from grace within the intelligence community. After being fired amid the pursuit of a highly elusive killer responsible for murdering his colleague, Brad becomes an outcast. Determined to settle the score, he goes rogue to track down the assassin, who carries a federal bounty of $15 million. The stakes are high as all rules are thrown out in this dangerous game of cat and mouse.

James Marsden is no stranger to Apple TV audiences, having previously appeared in the show Your Friends & Neighbors, where he portrayed Owen Ashe opposite Jon Hamm’s character, Andrew "Coop" Cooper, in season two. His extensive career also includes notable roles such as President Cal Bradford in Hulu’s Paradise, Teddy Flood in HBO’s Westworld, and the dual roles of Steve and Ben Wood in Netflix’s Dead to Me.

Fans may also recognize Marsden from popular franchise films like Sonic the Hedgehog and the X-Men series, where he played Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops. His other memorable roles include Prince Edward in the Enchanted films and Tom Wachowski in the Sonic movies.

The creative minds behind Disavowed are Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who developed the original concept and serve as executive producers alongside James Marsden and Tom Spezialy. Additional executive producers include Theresa Kang and Carolina Garity through Blue Marble Pictures, with Apple Studios handling production.

Marcum and Holloway bring a significant pedigree to the project, having co-written the groundbreaking 2008 Marvel film Iron Man, which launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That film famously follows Tony Stark’s capture in Afghanistan and his creation of the first Iron Man suit to secure his escape.

The duo also worked on the 2024 Marvel movie Kraven the Hunter, which explores the origin story of Sergei Kravinoff, a character who gains animalistic superpowers and becomes a deadly vigilante. Despite their success with Iron Man, Kraven the Hunter was a commercial failure, earning only $62 million worldwide against a hefty $110 to $130 million budget. In contrast, Iron Man grossed over $585 million globally with a $140 million budget.

Looking ahead, James Marsden has several exciting projects in the pipeline, including a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He will reprise his role as Cyclops in the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday. While many praised his portrayal of Cyclops in the original X-Men films and 2014’s Days of Future Past, some felt his character was overshadowed by Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
